From the Podcast:

You probably have a smart phone. In fact, you may be viewing this on it. While they're extremely useful, do we ever consider the drawbacks to them?

Talking Points:

  • We seem to have fallen into the illusion that our followers or Facebook friends are more urgent than the people around us, thus receiving the majority of the time we’re willing to lend to others. While we as people long for community and intimacy, we often take the wrong path to achieve it.
  • We have alerts that remind us we have text messages, missed phone calls, emails waiting to be read, tasks that need to be done, and much more. All of these notifications make us feel like we have to respond to them right away creating stress in our lives.
  • The blue light on our phone makes our brain think it’s daytime. So, checking your phone before bed awakens the brain causing an interruption to sleep.
